Hello Readers - 5/17/09

A few people still check in here from time to time I see. I will probably post something soon because Thursday marks the 1 year mark since Warren's passing. I've actually been doing a little better emotionally for the last couple of weeks.

I plan on making a trip out to the Pacific Northwest this summer to visit a friend and will go to Florida for a couple of weeks with Megan. I have to iron out the details of when, and who will watch my cat Max. I want him to be able to stay at home where he's comfortable. He is too old to be shuffled off to stay with relatives, especially relatives with other pets. He's a loner like me. He and I enjoy our quiet time together.

I'll deal with the health thing in the fall after Megan goes back to school.

Hope your weekend is going well.

  1. Hi, I used to see you on Tom's page a lot. Glad things are getting a little easier for you, it seems to take forever. Your trips sound good, hope you are able to go and enjoy.......Lyn

  2. Travel is a wonderful way to refresh one's Self. You can't escape your issues, but being in a different geographic place often gives new perspective. As for Max - before we had our current house/cat sitter, we hired an outfit called (in our town) Pet Nanny. They were bonded, came in and fed the cat, cleaned the box and sat with her. Supposedly for a half-hour a day (like the cat's gonna contradict them). But our cat was in good shape after 2 or 3 week vacations.

I am glad you are feeling better.

  4. Lyn, thanks for stopping by and thank you.

Bennett, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with a stranger coming in just because the cat can't contradict what they say, but I will keep that in mind. Thanks.

    Thanks Jerene.

  8. Cheryl,

Hard to believe it's almost been a year and although you are doing "okay", I know you are still completely missing your other half. I hope you have a great trip out West...I know you've been talking about heading out on a road trip for a while..you do realize Colorado could be a pit stop, right? How wonderful that you and Megan can go to FL together..it will probably bring up a whole different set of memories. Still think about you all the time, just stink at writing or calling (story of my life). I'd cat sit (oh wait, is this the cat that climbed all over me while I sat in the living room?), but I'm just a tad far away.

  10. Yay! I'm glad to hear you are going to go on your trip after all. A change of scenery should be good.
And we miss your blogs, btw.

  11. No D it isn't the same cat! That was K-D that I was cat sitting before I got Max. Although I suspect you'd be just as allergic to Max as he's a long-hair. He probably wouldn't try to be in your face though.

Will probably fly out west this year but I'll get out your way sometime.

  15. I am cat sitting this weekend. Chilly is a kitten with a mean streak. He hates me and attacks me because I smell like our cats. I can't help but laugh because he is so cute.
But, he really has it out for me. I had to take our cat carrier over to their place so that he could get used to our cat smell. It seemed to work a bit because he stopped growling and clawing me. But, he still was attacking my eyes. He was either very frisky or very irritated.
Coming from such a little one is a little disconcerting.
I hope you get to get away because it will help you to heal.
    Good Luck Cheryl.
