At Seven Months - The Winter Solstice - 12/21/08

The ancients celebrated the winter solstice as the return of the light.  They knew that after this day the sun began to incrementally bring more daylight back into their lives.  Today also marks for me the seven month anniversary of Warren's passing.  I will use the metaphor of the solstice to remind myself that the light will return to my life as well.

  1. That is how I cheer myself on this short cold day with the longest night of the year: from now on the days get longer. It is a new beginning. Light returns. Second chances are in my sights - or a first chance at a new light. A good day to let go of old hurts and to look toward new beginnings.

  2. What a beautiful way to embark on a path of healing, Warren would want that, he wants that because he wants you to live because there are still things unfinished for you...you have to complete the unfinished task and then your time will be with him in a happier place...another message.

I got another one yesterday while I was cleaning and humming...lol

I will tell you all about it in a private setting but there seems to be task you need to concentrate on.

  4. No...I think the task are more along the lines of metaphysical and learning...but you never know ...have you been in the garage lately?

  6. Bennett I thinks its good to use days light this for periods of reflection too. Isn't there a quote about the un-examined life being a life not lived?

How deep is your snow now? Ventured out yet?

  7. I was out this morning to clear more snow. I had most of my face covered but Tom motioned me in when he saw my eyebrows frosting up. It is 9 degrees with a wind gusting to 25mph. So a real low wind chill. I will not go out again. Brrrrr.....

  10. I celebrated the solstice by going to a celtic festival with dancing and singing and fiddle music. Definitely a mood enhancing evening! Do you ever go to local performances? I'll tell you, they are good for what ails you, as all music is.

Now all I hear in my head is The Beatles and the beginning of "Here Comes the Sun"

  14. Bennett it was a balmy 18 here this morning but with wind unfortunately. I'll bet its crept up to a sweltering 22 degrees by now. I've been out running errands earlier today, but have settled in for a long winter's night now.

    I have been warned!!!!!!!
